Young Sara Crewe leaves her beloved father and home in India to attend a prestigious boarding school for the wealthy in Victorian London. Although she has lived a pampered life, Sara has a kind and loving nature.

When Sara’s father suddenly dies, his fortune is gone and she is left a penniless orphan. Though many people quickly turn on her, Sara courageously reaches out to others in kindness and concern, all while dealing with her grief and learning to adjust to a life of poverty.
